Horizons weekly sessions

A camp is a week. Keeping a child in the game takes longer. Horizons sessions gave camp alumni a place to keep skating every Saturday at Upper Canada College, on the way to organized minor hockey.

Open Ice camps put a child on the ice for the first time and send them home with a full set of equipment. Horizons sessions are the next step: a regular, weekly place to use that equipment, keep improving, and build toward joining an organized minor hockey team.

Why it exists

From one week to every week

The sessions run through the Horizons program at Upper Canada College, which works with high-priority schools across Toronto and referred the children who came to our first camp. From January to March 2026, alumni of Christmas Camp 2025 skated at UCC every Saturday from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

As Beach Metro Community News put it in January 2026, the Saturday sessions at Upper Canada College are where many camp participants get started and work toward playing organized minor hockey.

Simple, free and close to camp

How Horizons works, from the first invitation to the first organized team.

Referral

Campers are invited by the coaching staff and the Headquarters Team. There is no separate application.

Their own gear

Equipment

The equipment from camp belongs to the child, so it can come to the rink every week.

Two hours on Saturdays

Coaching

Two hours of skating and puck skills every Saturday, building on what campers learned at camp.

Like every Open Ice program, Horizons sessions cost families nothing.
