Our commitment

Open Ice Initiative exists to remove barriers. A website that some people cannot use would be a poor way to say that. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA.

What this site does

• Text contrast well above the AA threshold. White on our navy measures 9.9 to 1
• Skip links to the main content, the navigation and the footer
• Visible keyboard focus on every interactive element
• A navigation menu that opens with a keyboard, reports its state, and closes on Escape
• Descriptive alternative text on every photograph
• Explicit width and height on every image so the page does not jump while loading
• Scrolling banners that stop when your system asks for reduced motion, and a pause control for everyone else
• Semantic headings, landmarks and real links rather than click handlers
