The Toronto Leaside Girls Hockey Association, who play as the Wildcats, are one of the largest hockey associations for women and girls in Ontario. More than sixteen hundred participants, from three year olds in Learn to Play through to adults. Around thirty teams from U9 to U18 in the Ontario Women's Hockey League, plus senior teams in the Golden Blades league.
Every one of their teams has at least one woman in a leadership role on the team staff. That is a policy, not a coincidence, and it is the sort of thing that decides whether a nine year old girl can picture herself still playing at nineteen.
for Open Ice
The Toronto Leaside Wildcats are a Program Partner. Roughly half of every Open Ice camp is girls. The Wildcats are the reason that does not have to end when the camp does.
Thank you. Money buys ice and gear. It does not buy a rink that says yes, a coach who knows what to do with a child who has never skated, or somewhere for that child to keep playing in September. You gave us those, and those are the parts that turn a good week into a way in.
